Rapid pace of technology means the landscape is always changing. Rules that applied ten years ago no longer do.
I think about MLM type schemes of influencers selling courses about selling courses. The key is that because there is so much unknown in this space but it’s also highly desired for people to want to make money online, it’s exactly the space where proposing solutions are likely to catch on and be marketable (at least for a little bit). It’s a “meta” play rather than a tangible, grounded one.
Main pillars of business
- Content: great at scale, weak at monetization outside of advertisement. Desire to take ads can vary with integrity
- Services: not great at scale, great monetization provided you have skill
- Teaching: middle scale, requires trust and free content to market
Take historical lessons from mentors and use it to guide your direction, but never assume that their solution will work wholesale, or that you need to suppress what you think works for you to fit someone’s playbook.
