In modern day when someone is racking up achievements or seen to be busy and productive, we compliment them by saying, “You’re killing it”. Or crushing or slaying. If a show or song is good, we say “that slaps”.
All of these words are rooted in dominance, aggression, violence, and male power.
What if we framed success as creation, not domination? The highest of compliment could be “You made that”, you birthed that. Healing, protecting, nurturing, and tending to what’s here could be the most radical, generative act complete in its cyclicalframework , unlike violence which terminates life completely. These words are rooted in peace, equanimity, and love for humanity.
What if life was more impressive than zero-sum domination? What if success didn’t have to entail death of another?
